36 seconds is pretty quick. But a vehicle turns on in like 2 seconds and some can provide cover, instead of floating through the air as an easy target with your hands occupied so you can't return fire.

1LT (Join to see), all good points. However, you're comparing an emerging technology to an established one.
I look at the IMEs (Individual Mobility Experiments) as proof of concepts of what's possible. While they might be nothing more than "Ooooh Ahhhhh" items right now, think of how rotary wing assets completely changed how battlefield mobility evolved.
