I don’t know where the new Ukrainian counteroffensive occur. I believe the Russian 42nd Division which is East of the Dnipro River is trapped due the bridges over the river have been destroyed. That said, I don’t think it would materially hurt the Ukrainians if they bypass the 42nd. I am saying this because the 42nd is a stick in the mud and has not accomplish much if at all.
Before Ukraine attacks Crimea it will isolate it, and I firmly believe the Ukrainians will do well with this task.

Will be nice to see them take back what started all this almost a decade ago.

MAJ Ken Landgren As a former planner that's what I'd go after. Retake Crimea and the rest of Russian forces in the recently annexed areas will wither away and try to get back across the border. It will be costly but less so than trying to push Russians out of the territories they've been fighting over for years.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - The irony is 90 miles NW (I think that is the distance) of Crimea the Russian Army 42nd Division with an original strength around 20,000 soldiers cannot reinforce Crimea because they are stuck on the West side of the Dnipro River, and my strong assumption is the bridges that were destroyed remain so. I think the 42nd is irrelevant thus it does not have to be destroyed right now. lol
