MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D.
I edited a WWI Marine private's memoir. A remarkable account. He spent all but his first week in combat as a battalion runner, carrying messages for officers. He wound up getting the Distinguished Service Cross and the Navy Cross for his actions at Blanc Mont. He was assigned to the 5th Marine Regt., 4th Marine Bde., 2d Division, and was in action from Belleau Wood to the night crossing of the Meuse on the night of 10-11 Nov. 1918. The title of the book is Suddenly We Didn't Want to Die.

Gotta love it! Sorry General, he's, uh, digging trenches right now and is unavailable. But he'll be around a couple of days from now.
