I heard a man on the radio, who lived on Sanibel Island. He was demanding immediate help to restore his power and telephone service, after stating that his home and possessions were destroyed. Power will not be restored to damaged structures, it is the last thing done, after reconstruction. There can be a temporary service for construction workers, but those have very low priority after a hurricane.
There was no damage to my home from Irma, but I had no power for over two months.
