I believe there are requirements stated in most religious texts to spread the word of that religion, however, if I am not mistaken Muslims are called to kill those who will not accept their Prophet.

Deuteronomy 20:12-18
12 If they refuse to make peace and they engage you in battle, lay siege to that city. 13 When the Lord your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. 14 As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder the Lord your God gives you from your enemies. 15 This is how you are to treat all the cities that are at a distance from you and do not belong to the nations nearby.
16 However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. 17 Completely destroy[a] them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—as the Lord your God has commanded you. 18 Otherwise, they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshiping their gods, and you will sin against the Lord your God.
Matthew 5:17
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
In the OT God command outright slaughter of the "nearby" tribes - root and branch. Leave nothing alive lest the corrupt you. For all the rest, they get off easy - kill the men, rape and enslave the women. I'm sorry... enslave and "use the plunder" that are the women and children of the tribe.
Yes, yes, I got it... it's the OT, not the New kinder, gentler, hippie-Christ Testament. But even there, Christ intentionally, specifically, and unequivocally states to CONTINUE FOLLOWING THE OT.
Which means God's command to bring total annihilation to nearby tribes (Palestine and Hamas, anyone?) stands. As does his command to kill ALL men and enslave the women of EVERYONE ELSE you go to war with.
Did Jesus specifically say to slaughter and enslave? No. But he clearly and specifically re-inforced the existing status quo in all existing Jewish requirements (to include all those dining rules which most Christians ignore).

SFC Casey O'Mally - I fully agree that was the case in the old testament, but I disagree with this concept for the new. In Matthew 28:19 Jesus said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
Also I believe that the passage above only pertains to the time when the people were to take possession of the land GOD had promised. There was not a command to continue to do so.

MSgt Dale Johnson There are also passages of the Qu'ran (which I cannot readily quote, as I have only a passing acquaintance with it) which advocate peace and love.
My point is that Christians love to point out the violence of Islam whilst ignoring the violence within Christianity (and within Judaism, which forms the conceptual, spiritual, and legal foundation for Christianity).
All three of the Abramaic religions have "justified" and/or "righteous" violence advocated within their holy text. All three discuss deity-approved horrendous acts within their holy text. All three have continued to have horrendous acts perpetrated in the name of their God.
Singling out Islam is very definitely a glass houses sitiuation.

SFC Casey O'Mally - I have respect for your point of view, and do not deny that men have done Horrible things in the name of religion. I just feel that new testament Christianity does not have in writing specifically to go and kill those who will not convert. So will just leave it at that.

That's why we need to clear out those that have imbedded themselves deep in there political offices, and exployted their taxpaying voters, we need younger blooded individuals that have been there and saw first hand what happens when you turn a blind eye to reality Lt Col Charlie Brown
