MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D.
I was finishing my teaching tour at West Point when Schwarzkopf came to speak at graduation in May '91. I was given the mission of escorting Joseph Galloway of USN&WR, who was there to interview the general for a feature he was doing on him in the wake of Desert Storm.
I really enjoyed the time I spent with Joe (who was at LZ X-ray with Lt. Col. Hal Moore in the Ia Drang Valley in Nov. '65 and became the only civilian to be awarded a valor decoration--the Bronze Star with "v" device). Joe left USN&WR later that year and went to work with Knight-Ridder.

I've sat in his command jeep that he used at Ft. Stewart. It's currently in storage at the Museum Support Center in Anniston, AL.
