Well, I don't know for sure but that has never stopped me from opining before.
Most vessels have thru hull fittings.
Our Catalina 27 had five.
Our Catalina 32 had seven led to two sea chests.
From video, choppy water, few white caps, I'm guessing sea state <Beaufort 5. Great sailing weather.
Vessel this size has a professional crew.
Vessel this size is highly automated (to reduce crew size)
Guessing master/engineer relying on bridge gauges and idiot lights rather than a snipe to visually check bilges.
Guessing compartmentalization
not maintained.
Guessing one or more thru hull fittings failed or were incorrectly aligned, OR, she was holed by flotsam.
Her bilges flooded.
She listed stbd from a turn or a beam on swell.
Liquid load surged to the (lower) stbd side.
Free surface effect on the bilge water, fuel tanks other liquid tanks interfered with her righting moment.
From the video, we see green water over the weather deck. Likely flooding the interior and likely not arrested because compartmentalization was not maintained.
Free surface effect aggravated by weather deck flooding cascading down ladder wells.
She couldn't right herself.

Those lizard people living under the Denver Airport Terminal done it. :-)) ;-))

That's why when I get a boat, I'm getting a twin-hulled Catamaran, much harder to sink.. ;)

LTC (Join to see) Not a bad plan. Just remember, no substitute for prudent seamanship. No multihull is self righting. No need boring you with the source of that wisdom. ;-))
