Interestnig, but I would hope the military doesn't start buying foreign vehicles, The Land Rover isn't whatt it once was, and Mercedes are too maintenance intensive (cost wise). While I like Toyotas, like the pickups and Land Cruiser, I'm still in the, "Buy American!" mode.
Interesting article though I never heard of that show.

Sadly there are not truly any fully American made vehicles anymore, there are American assembled vehicles with parts coming from all over. As far as the show I've watched it for years, I liked the series before the newer ones started a few years ago.

Except for the nameplate Toyotas are as much an American made product as is any vehicle.......See comment by SPC Gary C.

SPC Gary C. - and Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen:
Yes, the original Land Cruisers were fantastic - FJ40 was the model nomenclature. I bought two new ones - a '74 with my re-up bonus, then a '79. The '74 only had a 12 gal fuel tank and was a 3-sp floor shift. It was like a tank and they highlighted how heavey the gauge was on the body parts. Amazing off-road. Not so much with the '79. The '79, unfortunately were ALL made to meet Calif. EPA specs and was a 4-sp floor shift and the engine bay was FULL of tubes and pollution crap and a pain to work on ... while the '74 you could work on any engine part easily.
Colonel, yes ... there are very few, if any, American made vehicles but I "think" the tactical Humvees, etc were US made for the most part. Vehicles, sadly, went the same direction as TV's and all other electronics. We are so dependant upon China and Taiwan that it's no wonder the Chinnese insist Taiwan IS China. We're gonna be in a real pickle if war breaks out. I often wonder how many of our computer chips in our military equipment are programmed with malware. Hopefully, we're able to accurately test them for issues though.

I was stationed there in the late 80's & early 90's, if they want to see how well built those are they should have taken them in a old fashion regimental attack where we'd run 30-45 mph cross country. The tank trails are to smooth, unless they went down East range road and hit the washboard section.
