Removing Confederate Battle Streamers?

The Defense Department commission reviewing "all things Confederate" from the military is recommending that Civil War battle streamers from unit guidons. What do you think about this?
I have a strong feeling about this, and I'm wondering what others think.

Removing streamers in this fashion is basically an effort to erase history. If we don't understand history, you will repeat it (and it always happens, unfortunately).

I don't agree with any of these hypotheticals, keep that in mind...

What about Viet Nam? Remove those because it was an "illegal police action"?

What about the Indian War streamers? Native Americans obviously have strong feelings about those engagements. Taking away the streamers won't change what happened.

What about the Spanish-American War? Some say that the explosion of the Maine was an accident or possibly sabotage?

What are your thoughts?
