No surprize. The Democrats, and the Biden admin in particular, are hell bent on destroying the American promise with their Marxist derived actions.

PV2 Larry Sellnow - Is this what you are speaking of?

If so, you are incorrect. The Huff Post runs an incendiary headline, but the truth actually lies in the article. [Surprised me, since Huff Post isn't actually unbiased.]

"Board members decided instead to return to the pre-pandemic National School Lunch Program, which offers free and reduced-price lunches to low-income students whose families apply for it."

Choosing one program that feeds kids over another program that feeds kids, is not killing the school lunch program. But then again, you haven't done any heavy lifting. Provide a source for your assertion. Maybe I've focused on the wrong event. Just point me in the correct direction. C'mon it must be easy if I am so wrong.

PV2 Larry Sellnow - I can't read your article. It is behind a pay wall.

If you are referring The COVID Emergency Allotments (EA) and The COVID Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP), neither of those programs are school lunch programs. They are add-ons to the normal SNAP program that were only to remain in place during the COVID epidemic. They were specifically put in place to help families who lost substantial income and were facing food insecurity due to COVID.

It isn't that the Republican states are cutting allotments. It is that those 18 states, and many more to follow, no longer meet USDA guidelines to continue provide EXTRA aid in response to COVID's impact on employment within the state. Barring some significant change in the current status of the COVID epidemic, most states, red or blue, will end EA and D-SNAP before the end of the year. Should those 18 red states see a change for the worse in their COVID numbers, they can request re-certification.

Families that meet FEDERAL guidelines still have access to SNAP. If you don't like the EA and D-SNAP temporary allotments ending, the Democrats control both houses and the White House. Complain to them.

If I'm still off-topic, find a source that isn't behind a pay wall.

PV2 Larry Sellnow - Just found what I believe you are speaking of. The GOP does not want to continue funding "free for all" school lunch programs. This has zero effect on kids who live in impoverished homes. Why should the American taxpayer pay for the school lunch of affluent and wealthy households? Let's pick a number. If a child lives in a home with a combined household income of $250,000 and attends public school, what's wrong with telling them to pay for their own kid's lunch?

Kids who live at or below the poverty level for their size household will still qualify for free school lunch and for kids who live above the poverty level by less than 50% for their size household will qualify to subsidized school lunches, UNLESS the school won't comply with the Biden administration's Title IX mandates.

Are you in favor of subsidizing the affluent and wealthy?

PV2 Larry Sellnow - No, I'm not in favor of subsidizing the wealthy? If you want to start a post about economic theory, by all means, please do. I'll be happy to join that discussion. How about we stick to topic in this post?

I've had the courtesy to answer your questions. Are you going to answer mine?

What is wrong with asking people above the poverty level to pay for all or part of their kids' school lunch?
