More than 155,000 military family members and retirees will be moved from the military hospital system to civilian health providers starting later this year, a process expected to last through mid-2026, according to a new Defense Department report.
Under a revised plan, however, at least 29 facilities that were slated to serve only active-duty patients may still see some active-duty family members to sustain their staffs' clinical skills.

If I say what I want to about the government and the erosion of military benefits, I would be censored for sure. I would, however, deny any health insurances that are paid for by the people of the US for any elected government official!

Thanks for sharing, my wife uses the Sable Park clinic mentioned in the article. We ask all the time about status but they tell us nothing has been decided.

Not good news for retirees, health benefits promised when folks were active duty need to be honored and that was free health care for the rest of your life. Folks on fixed incomes will be hurt the most and that generally includes all retirees.

Here is the thing. If they live within a 30 mile radius of the clinic and the clinic releases them downtown they ahve the same privileges as if they were on base. My wife was released to downtown and it works great for her.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth Are you saying those retirees will not have a co pay? I have gone to Wright Patt for over 20 years and never had a co pay.

MSgt Dale Johnson - When my wife sees her primary doc downtown there is no copay because she is Tricare Prime withan approved letter from the MTF that they can't see her and provide care. Now if she went standard she would have a copay. If she is referred to another specialty care she pays a copay just like I do but none for her primary care.
BTW...I love the WP hospital...we were stationed there for three years from'97-'00. My daughter was born there.
