As I understand it the non citizen thing only applied to State elections, not Federal elections. I can sort of understand that since state elections focus more on the needs of people living there and states do have more interactions with non citizens. That said, citizenship should be one of the requirements for getting a voting card just like attaining a certain age is a requirement for getting a driver's license.

It was struck down in accordance with the New York State constitution. The document references “citizens” in relation to voting privileges. They can possibly change the state constitution to accommodate, but this judge is basically saying that under current NY law it is unconstitutional for noncitizens to vote in state/local elections.

True because they are within NYState but it is already against the law for non citizens to vote in federal elections

In my view, Lt Col Charlie Brown, Non-Citizens should NOT BE ALLOWED to vote in any Governmental election, be it Federal, State, County, City/Town or the like... These Non-Citizens are just that... Unless one is a Citizen, which is a prerequisite, one does not get to vote!!! Period! Any politician who does not agree with that should be called back or voted out, etc. We have already given up too much of our country to the outside world!!! Period!
