A Trove of Guantánamo Photos
A Times reporter who covers Guantánamo Bay tracked down military photographs of the early days of the U.S. detention center there. -
MY SAY: I don't believe you (Carol Rosenberg) worked hard enough on some of the descriptions. Answers were there, and still are if you're interested. You all made the 'detainees on their knees in a gravel enclosure' the logo photo of Gitmo - and never explained it, even now. That was a holding area in Camp X-Ray (used only from JAN-APR 2002), where incoming detainees were held from about 5 to 45 minutes waiting their turn to be in-processed. They were directly monitored and cared for by US Marines and Army personnel. 1LT Leavitt was not a 'medic,' but a physician's assistant. Sincerely, Montgomery J. Granger, MAJ, US Army, Retired.
