‘We want a future’: Migrant caravan heads to US-Mexico border

My ancestors INCLUDES Native American, Mi'kmaq and Cherokee; Trail of Tears, Cherokee Nation, etc. Today, we are one people, the American people. But there are rules and laws that must be followed, or we exist only as a chaotic mob. You may practice chaos on a daily basis, but for a land that values its freedom and liberty, there must be order and respect for our Constitution and laws. They can come legally or not at all.

Maj John Bell it's not just the working conditions but these same people seek to live their own because of ethical and cultural differences. For those who have never been to the us, the media portrays rural white people has nothing more than bigoted, stupid, hicks. They think or are lead to believe most of those people don't want them. And rightfully so a small percentage of rural people don't want them living around them. It's self segregation.

PFC (Join to see) - I'm curious about your experience with small town life. Except while in the military I've always lived in a rural setting. The only time I faced any serious bigotry was when I had to attend school in a suburban Tucson school. I was too Mexican for half of the white kids and too white for half of the Mexican kids.

For the rest of my small-town life, the animosity and hatred has pretty much been limited to internal family squabbles where none will forgive. Usually having to do with extra-marital affairs or business deals; nothing to do with race, ethnicity, gender identity, religion or politics.

In my village (pop. 970) and township (an additional 1300), the full-time resident High school graduating classes are less than 35 kids total. Some of those are school of choice kids from other villages and townships. For prom and other school dances, 2 or 3 schools combine to make sure you don't have to dance with your cousin.

The friendship pool is too small to dislike someone for arbitrary reasons. Based solely on my personal experience your last two sentences are utterly false. The illegal aliens leave the small towns for the same reason our citizen kids do, a big economic future is unlikely here. Or if you've lived here more than a year after getting your driver's license you've seen it all.

PFC (Join to see) Not to sound crass, but the lack of ID from a Foreign National isn’t our problem and I fail to see how this is relevant. Look, I’ve lived in these countries (the Latin American ones) and I know all too well how bad and good they have it. The media has done a number on the uninformed trying to suggest they are practically war zones. It’s all BS. Sure they are not like living in the US, but there is certainly a lot of exaggeration going on. Furthermore, there are in fact groups organizing, recruiting, and financing the caravans coming into this country. Along with these we have seriously bad criminals taking advantage of the opportunities for human smuggling and hard core drugs. It needs to stop and regardless of how much you feel for these people, we need to turn them away. Ask yourself this, would you take them into your own home, without any knowledge of their past? I’m thinking not. And finally, I live in Texas where we do see multiple reports of trucks filled with illegal immigrants caught. Worse we see the drugs, the smuggling, and the danger to the communities in south Texas. Did you even know that the school in Uvalde actually underwent a significant number of lock down drills prior to the shooting (far more than most schools in this country)? Do you know why? It wasn’t for active shooters.

PFC (Join to see) How do you figure? First, that is not what they are led to believe. What they know is that most law abiding Americans are likely to report people here illegally, and for that matter not hire them (which is the law). So they segregate into communities which are less likely to put them and where they can work off the books. Meanwhile we’re not collecting taxes, more divisiveness sets in when the left claims white people are a bunch stupid bigoted hicks.

I have not only lived in these nations for over 13 years of my life, but I embraced their cultures and made great friends is still have to this day. I have also actively worked to bring others into this country legally who are not of the same color, religion, and background of my own. They simply demonstrated their loyalty and desire to this country and earned their way here. Meanwhile, the Biden Administration recently read will no longer honor the Special Immigration Visa deals made to similar individuals who earned their chance to come to this nation. Like I said… remove the incentives to come here illegally and then change the laws to allow for more legal immigration. We cannot take them all in and in order to sustain our economy, it is essential that we pick those who want to come based on their ability to contribute to this country.
