(06/2022) For the Catholic Church, the month of June isn’t “Pride Month,” but dedicated to a feast celebrating the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This Catholic show of reverence for Jesus has been going since the late 17th century after He reportedly appeared to Margaret Mary Alacoque in the 1670 and asked her to promote a feast to honor His Sacred Heart. The feast always fell during the month of June and after 1856, the entire month of June became dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and His divine love for humanity.
Though this holy time has been a decidedly-Catholic Church event for centuries, anyone can also mark out June as a month to draw closer in devotion to Jesus Christ, as the King of all kings and Savior of the world.
