They are actually tracked. The DOD started this back when the Obama administration extended unemployment benefits after the 2008 market crash. Between the crash making it near impossible for separating vets to get hired, and the unemployment benefits being extended for over a year, the DOD ended up paying around 1 billion in unemployment over four years. That money is un-budgeted and came off the top of training funds. We actually had to ration the amount of fuel our vehicles could use for training and minimize our training exercises.

They realized it was cheaper to train people before separation than pay unemployment. Basically, the way its tracked is by the amount of unemployment that gets paid out after separation. Plus, all the programs that use the GI Bill get audited and tracked, they have to be able to show a certain percentage of successful employment to stay in the CSP and be authorized for GI Bill payment

SFC (Join to see) Sounds promising! Having been in hiring manager positions for 20+ years and delt with government grant driven programs, I'm always hopeful while being highly critical where metrics and outcomes are concerned.
