I never saw anyone fail to qualify when I went thru basic, the bulk of those that I trained with during BCT were farm boys shipmate PO2 (Join to see)

I'm pretty sure the nurses at my first base helped a few of my squadron mates qual. Those ladies may have been good in the hospital, but they'd hit 2 or 3 other's targets on the range.

I don't know what the Army does but the AF drags Officer Trainees back out to the range multiple times until you qualify (or at least they used to do so)

I don't even remember having to qual in ROTC Field Training. Might just be bad memory. But I did have to qual a few times on AD. The last time I did was just before my OIF deployment in 2003. That was my last time. I left the Active Duty in 2007 and the Reserves in 2013.
