They don't count the emissions of people who sell on Amazon. And they shouldn't. Amazon is merely a middle man in those transactions. They count the emissions to get from the seller to Amazon and from Amazon to consumer. But those are not Amazon products. The seller isn't selling TO Amazon for Amazon to sell to consumers, like happens in Target or Kroger or Wal-Mart. They are selling THROUGH Amazon, using their platform.
Amazon not taking responsibility for other people's products makes sense to me. They take responsible for the logistics piece, as well as the energy needed to run the platform. Which is what they make their money off.
