Having worked in public schools and sent children through there, I am a fan of dismantling the Dept and using the funds elsewhere. They have a 68 billion dollar budget; maybe we could find a better use for those funds or pay down the debt we've incurred...

The federal government should not be involved in what our kids are taught. Nor hamstringing money to school districts.
But we know that once a government bureaucracy is created, it never goes away. Only grows.

Get the politics out of education. This is a good start, use the funding for areas where there is funding issues in poorer areas.
