Conservatives love the plan. They say it would give poor families stuck in failing school districts a chance at a life-changing escape.
But school administrators running well-heeled suburban districts already are taking measures to demonstrate their classrooms are full — the one exception the proposed change would allow from barring students who want to transfer into a district they don’t live in.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel Going way back to my New England conservative roots you have to remember that the first schools in the colonies were pay as you go. There was no such thing as free education for all children. Progressives pushed through the concept but the old school conservatives never embraced it which is why to this day New England has some of the oldest private schools in the country.

So instead they want the kids to stay at schools that aren't working. Give the parents the money and let them send their kids to private schools.
