Consider the idea of a package delivered by drone, and it’s easy to imagine a small flying machine depositing an item in a consumer’s driveway or backyard. And indeed, that’s what companies such as Wing, from Google’s parent Alphabet, are working on right now. But FedEx, which announced last week that it’s teaming up with a drone company called Elroy Air, has something else in store: an exploration of how to use drones for what they call “middle mile” logistics.

If they follow the way mapquest sends you, my package would end up 2/3 of a mile down the road at my neighbors Lt Col Charlie Brown

I have reservations about drones flying everywhere. Too many variables, objects, etc add in equip failures, who knows.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - I wonder how many drone collisions there would be with a huge number of those soaring through the skies! LOL! Interesting, but I will have to see it work effectively before I would accept this as a viable solution to package delivery... I hope the U.S. Government does as well... It is the future...
