I saw this movie tonight on Tubi. Tubi has commercials but that's okay.
I probably hadn't seen this movie in 30 years. I read the book when I was in high school.
I didn't know that they filmed this movie in the Czech Republic and they had to stop for a while due to the 1968 Revolution when the Russian army came in to stop a rebellion by a government that didn't want to be communist anymore. The revolution failed though the Russian said that these were real American troops with real American tanks that were to be used against the Russians. Most of the movie extras were Czech.
I was amazed how the Czech Republic looked so much like Germany.
It was called Czechoslovakia back then and it was part of the Warsaw Pact.
Some other American war movies were made in Yugoslavia prior to the Civil War which has my favorite war movie comedy Kelly's Heroes.

Great movie, one that someone usually airs around either Memorial or Veterans Day.

The only thing that you will notice the movie that was wrong with the B-25 climbing the bridge was that they still had the meatball inside of the US Army Air Force star and they did not have D-Day Stripes either. I don't remember a colorized remake of thirty seconds over Tokyo and it wasn't borrowed from the movie Catch-22 because it hadn't been made yet LOL. Also on Tubi, there's the 1959 movie with Gregory Peck called pork chop Hill and I haven't seen it either.
