A broken system and complete failure to even enforce or respect the laws of our own country by the existing Federal Government. Tying the hands of the Border Patrol by this failure by the Biden Administration Which over and over their complete failure to protect us. as American citizens.

And just because you are born here, doesn't mean you get automatic citizenship...that should not be the case.

That is going to require a change to the Constitution since the 14th Amendment says "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." Changing it is no easy task

Excellent article. My son in law works for Homeland Security, specifically he works in the department that reviews and determines applications for legal status and asylum. This department is completely funded by fees paid by those who submit their applications. There are not mission critical and they get paid when the government shuts down. My daughter his wife works for DOJ in the BOP, paramedic at Leavenworth Federal Prison (The Big House). She is mission critical and works without pay when shutdown. He reviews files for completeness if they are complete he sends them to adjudication, if not sent back to applicant to complete. And the files are good ole fashioned paper files. And his work is busy and in late January they saw an uptick in Ukrainian and Russian applications. A full month before the invasion.
