Considering the difficulty Russia is having against a motivated opponent, I am highly unimpressed with their ability to wage an effective conventional campaign. Part of me wonders if Russia is holding back, if the Russian moral is simply so low, they aren't reflecting their full potential, or are they just really that bad.
Modernizing our ally's capabilities while continuing to build on creating professional servicemen and women is definitely a win-win for all of us. It also shows us that by working with and advising other nations experiencing threats from the like of China, Russia, and other aggressive non-friendly nations, we can realize exponential gains.
Russians are currently experiencing significant air losses, effective guerilla warfare, and horrible logistical issues. It almost seems like they learned little to nothing about what the US has evolved to with regards to our actions in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm inclined to say Russia simply sucks at conducting a conventional war against what should be a relatively lower tier enemy, but I'm cautiously optimistic. Minus their nukes, do they have the ability to stand toe to toe against the US? It certainly does not look like it. It also makes me wonder about China (and I would imagine they too might wonder as well) and their ability to wage conventional war. Seems to me that Taiwan would be equally resolved in defending their nation from attack. I wonder if Russia believed they could essentially roll in like Iraq did with Kuwait, not realizing that there really isn't much of a nationalistic sentiment in a country (Kuwait) which has a roughly 70% immigrant/expat population.

Wars and rumors of Wars, good for the Military Arms market. Wish we could get behind Crops and Rumors of crops, or Housing and the Rumors of Housing in the same vigor.
