The idea of white privilege isn't fully a question of history, it's also a question of an active political debate. There are those who believe we live in a post racism society where now everyone has the same opportunity and are treated the same (more or less). The other side of that is the idea that racism and bias are still around and baked into our systems and current situations and that impacts the outcomes for different groups, many times rooted in race.

White privilege and CRT run smack dab into that political debate and thus are going to be contentious.

These articles never really get into the true meat of why people don't want something taught. The majority of people have no issues with teaching about history; all of it, good and bad. None of us want to repeat the bad stuff if at all possible.
