Couple with baby found dead on California hike sent final desperate text

Hadn't heard about this tragedy before. But this apparently happened to a couple who went on a 6.4 hike in Northern California in a mountain valley region on a hot August day where temperatures spiked to over 109 degrees. The couple unfortunately had brought their baby with them, but only 85 ounces of water for 3 people (that's just over .66 gallons of water for 3 people). Their bodies were recovered on 17 August, and authorities determined they died of heat exhaustion. Tragically, they were found only 1.6 miles from their car (picture on trail map) when they could not send emergency messages, due to lack of cell coverage. They tried to send one last desperate text to call for help, which did not go through. Their deaths' highlight the dangerous conditions in both the winter & summer seasons present in the Sierra Mountains of California. Unfortunately, their lack of hiking experience and poor preparation (not bringing enough water with them) contributed to their deaths.
