Meet the M1 Garand: One of the Best US Military Rifles Ever?

I laugh every time Democrats move to ban ARs and then purposely exclude this rifle. I own two and they are just as deadly as an AR, probably more so as when empty they make a better club.

Excellent read. My father carried the M1 during WW2 and he had one fitted for scope. He liked to reach out touch someone before they reached out and touched him. Served him well on omaha beach and across Europe. Having taken over as squad leader on omaha beach he procured an M1911 for close in. Such entering house or bunker. He loved his M1. But in Vietnam he carried an M14 as he had used it in army match competitions. And again prefer to reach out and touch them before they saw him. Even at the time in Vietnam 68-69 the M16 was the army weapon. He also prefer the caliber of 7.62 over 5.56 as it usually stopped the threat in one round.
