Many of you have seen the movie The Bridges of Toko RI. This kind of jet aircraft was actually very maneuverable and with a skilled pilot, was able to shoot down four mig-15 Fighters in one battle. The naval aviators plane was a piece of junk when it finally landed on the aircraft carrier. It was so heavily damaged they had to throw it over the side of the ship.

During the Korean War from 1950 to 1953 ,the Russians were secretly sending Pilots to Korea pretending to be Korean. This pilot had to be quiet about it for over 50 years. Four different Russian Pilots were shot down that day.

Great history share LTC Conway, thank you. I know the American Legion started the campaign to try to get a Medal Of Honor for him in 2017, have not heard much since.

Did you ever hear the story where a patrol boat sank a German U-Boat and the captain was called a liar even though the whole crew side and four decades this Commander was in disgrace. When the Navy finally acknowledged that his Patrol boat had destroyed the U-Boat with a depth charge that cooked off Torpedoes in the Val, I think they gave him a Navy Achievement medal with Valor instead of giving him like a silver star or higher.

LTC (Join to see) - I had read that. There are a number of things that we are not allowed to share, and there may be good reasons for that, but some like the one about the U-Boat and Capt. Williams don't make sense.
