1. The John Hopkins study was from its economics department, not public health
2. One of the authors has ties to libertarian Cato Institute which may imply bias

The pandemic is an international problem with global ramifications that extend far beyond public health. Trying to resolve such a problem solely through the lens of public health, ignoring the laws of unintended consequences is bad government.
A simplified analogy: Automobile accidental deaths are unacceptable, even one loss is too many. Cars are now limited to speeds not to exceed 3mph. Think of all the lives that will be saved.
I'm unimpressed by arguments that attack the messenger, but do not address the verity of the message. What is false or misleading in in the study? Why are libertarians any more or less biased than anyone else?

Not all of these studies/papers have been peer reviewed. I am interested in the rebuttals from scientists on these findings. The "ill-founded" lockdowns still saved lives any way you look at it.

Agree… although and without having read it as I tend not to waste my time on someone else’s opinion when I was front and center to something… I would agree in principle that “we” could’ve done better. CDC lost credibility with its poor info delivery and not holding firm on being apolitical. They were pressured by the then White House and so they were waffling too much. Faucci?? No comment.
But one thing that is true I don’t think any public health measure can work on a people and segment of people do hell bent on spouting their individual liberties over the greater good. Also countries that allowed individual liberty to dominate didn’t do better per capita. But this is merika. We go big or go home. We will kill the most mofos in the world just to prove our freedom! Yee haw!

Its always interesting when someone reports something different than the political narrative, most folks figured out that the fauchi waffling on masks or the bizarre you must wear your mask while walking into a business but its OK to take it off while eating very telling. Its always been about power and will always be about power. The sheep will always be sheep.
