Criminals use guns to rob, rape, and kill. They also use knives, clubs, and hands and feet for the same purpose.
Guns can do nothing of their own accord. They are inanimate bits of machinery. The obvious way to eliminate the danger is to eliminate the criminals, not eliminate the guns.
