A Florida school district canceled a professor’s civil rights history seminar for teachers, citing in part concerns over “critical race theory” — even though his lecture had nothing to do with the topic.
J. Michael Butler, a history professor at Flagler College in St. Augustine, was scheduled to give a presentation Saturday to Osceola County School District teachers called “The Long Civil Rights Movement,” which postulates that the civil rights movement preceded and post-dated Martin Luther King Jr. by decades.
He said that he was shocked to learn why the seminar had been canceled through an email Wednesday but that he wasn’t surprised because educators feel increasingly intimidated over teaching about race.

Part of the problem is that “Theory” is such a broad term and can be defined differently by different people.
But it can also be used by certain people to try and eliminate actual Historical Facts about our Country and things that have happened.
I personally believe this is a lot of what we are seeing, certain people trying to eradicate history.

These are a group of adults, they should be beyond an age, or strength in who they are as a person. I have attended enumerator lectures, briefings and training that was controversial, I walked away with a different perspective or not. Big boy club. If someone’s phsychi can be impacted as a more mature adult there are problems to begin with.
Bottom line is that people should have a choice as to what they are subjected to, and without prejudice (the looser form of the word).
Our society and culture are being impacted by too many woke moments whether agreed or disagreed with. Let people speak as long as they do it with respect. Those in an audience or on the other side of a topic should listen with respect and walk away with more information for their tool kit.
Setting peaceable people down who simply wish to share their truth is rediculous.
We used to be better than this
