Good Saturday Morning to you, my Brothers and Sisters in arms!!! Yesterday was a pretty bad day here in the Greater Boston Area as the "STAWM" that came through our area dumped a hefty one foot of snow in my local town and that was some of the deepest amounts... Less toward the Cape and Western parts of Massachusetts, but we hit the bullseye, so-to-speak! A few other towns around us had a bit more than a foot of snow... Winter is indeed here in New England my friends! LOL!
Meanwhile back in SPACE, there was no "STAWM", but there was success... The James Webb Space Telescope is now 73.75% of the way to the the Lagrange Point L2, where it will orbit a preset point in space for the life of the the JWST! The JWST is now 662,862 miles from Earth and has 235,845 miles to L2... Although the cruising speed has declined to 0.2496 miles per second, it is still moving at a very comfortable pace...
Already, today, the JWST deployment team commenced planning and operations to deploy the right/starboard (-V2) wing of the primary mirror from its stowed position into its operational position... This will be followed by its complement on the other side of the Primary mirror!
So far the JWST has performed flawlessly... Let us all hope it continues the great success that it has had!
I wish you all a great Saturday!
Kerry
