No matter how good the plan or program, if you can't convince people to support it, you're wasting your time

As a former Manager of Training for a nationwide corporation, I can attest to that

The Best buy-in comes from soldiers who trust you, like you, are willing to rally around you, and are loyal to you. The soldiers and NCOs knew I cared about them and their families, and I loved them. They also knew I valued them.
Sometimes even if I knew the answer, I would ask the NCOs to help me with planning to involve them. I tried to make the NCOs feel they were important. There were several times NCOs tried to sell me on another course of action. I did not care about rank. If an E-5 had a recommendation and the outcome was no different, I listened to them and admired their passion and rewarded them by adopting their suggestion. I remember one training meeting I was talking with 6 NCOs, they all said I was wrong. What did I do? I smiled and told them they won and raised my arms in the air. lol

SFC (Join to see) Always had good results with this maxim —> “If you treat people right they will return the favor.” And of course —> make it fun!
