No, they are still there brother Joe. Our only hope was to develop enough generations of free thinking people to stand up to terrorists. We failed. I can't believe we can have a presence in Germany for going on to 80 years, and we can't make the same kind of investment in other areas of the world where we have interests.

I would submit that a Taliban man over 5 might be responsible. Think about that. That is the nature or of our enemy. How sad.

Why would this be a surprise to anyone? Ideology, tribalism, corruption. Is it enough for the U.S. to be an example, a beacon of light on a far away hill? Is it in OUR national interest? Are we ready for a century of American blood and treasure on foreign soil. Not easy questions; it's tragic!

I appreciate the difficult questions. The real point is that our Country bore most of the cost in money, blood, and lives already. If we look at the last year of so Afghanistan was basically pacified, all we needed to do was maintain. Now we don't get any of the benefit from our past sacrifices. Thats the way I saw it.
