Lt Col Charlie Brown Nothing like making it harder for those who serve our country to survive. Bunch of idiots at DoD. How about cutting welfare payments and make them get a job? Then they could revert this to our military members.

For an E7 with 18 years and dependents assigned to DC they’ll lose $43/month. Hardly making people destitute

SFC Thomas Foreman - Maybe not a lot, but that is there in DC. Who knows what it may be elsewhere? Maybe much more for all we know.

Cpl Vic Burk I doubt if the COLA was that much it would meet the standard to be cut anyway

I am sure if the person making this decision had to live on an E-4 pay they would change their mind.

PO3 Phyllis Maynard do you understand that $33k/yr is a helluva lot of money for someone 4 years out high school with no degree? That’s almost $16/hr and that is not factoring in either barracks/dining facility privileges or BAH/BAS

SFC Thomas Foreman I realize exactly what it is. His signature on that dotted line waiting to see if his number comes up is a hellava lot, too. He in my small town walking off the street into Walmart the starting pay is $14.

PO3 Phyllis Maynard Walmart won’t give him no copay health insurance, a place to live, free food, technical training, speciality schools and a post-service college scholarship though. I’ve signed my name on that dotted line multiple times over and I’ve always been well paid and received putsee to sending benefits. We can’t just constantly say “pay the soldiers more” because where does that end? Military pay and benefits are fine where they are outside of a few targeted adjustments. I’m career enlisted with no degree and I’ll gross $100k in 2022 just in cash entitlements, not including tricare and such
