So what is the lesson here? The vaccines don't work? If you opine at a congressional hearing the Chinese flu punishes you? His symptoms are mild so the hysteria is overwrought? So many unanswered questions.

It's long been established that breakthrough infections are a possibility, depending on the personal habits of individuals and proximity to others. Masking up is a part of the behaviour we should be accustomed to. At least all of us in medicine should be well-acquainted with that hygiene and protective practice. I've been fully-vaccinated (and boosted) for some time, but I still wear a mask in public settings where social distancing in >10 feet is not possible. And given the resistance some people have about masks, one doesn't know if one is in proximity to someone who's unvaccinated, possibly exhaling viral spores.

Sorry. Spent over twenty years teaching and practicing chemical/biological warfare. Clean room procedures are not real life procedures. And vaccination, as hopeful as I was for it, has proven not to be as protective as other vaccines. And the vaccinated can still infect others. However, I still support those who are comforted by mask wearing. I like not being crowded by strangers. I love having resturant tables distanced. Always a silver lining.

CWO4 Terrence Clark I really loved living in Okinawa, Japan, given their innate social distancing culture (which is largely based on respect for space, but has health benefits to it).
