Less than 1% of all Americans volunteer to serve in the military, a statistic which makes the story of the Elliott sisters, all three of whom now are stationed at Hurlburt Field, all the more remarkable.
Even within the limited pool of people volunteering for military service, there are instances in which more than one person from a given family will serve at the same time. Yet, the chances of two siblings being assigned to the same base are slim, and the percentage drops drastically when you add another sibling.
That's why Sierra, Carlie and Julia Elliott are such an extraordinary case, with the probability of their situation at somewhere about 0.7%, according to the Air Force.
