Interesting possibility. I don't claim to understand the biology involved, but the short article explains well enough to understand there seem to be genuine therapeutic interventions on the horizon.
The research is considering "lectins, the sugar-binding proteins" to " block the virus from entering cells", "by identifying lectins that bind these [SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein] glycosylation sites, the researchers could be well on their way to developing robust therapeutic interventions."
