Just because one liar tried to get personal gain from setting up a scene pertaining to the injustices to his race don't make all the real injustices OK. The things that allegedly happened to Smollett do happen to people every day; this is why the so called "genesis" were so quick to stand behind him, they were also victims of Smollett's crime.

You're right, it shouldn't. However, people like Smollett and other big news false accusations diminish the impact of the accusation. We move closer and closer to doubting such accusations. Meanwhile, many of those who were "quick" to stand by him are in turn thought of as virtual signaling and trying to find that major event to fit their examples of the narratives they push. All too often these events are turned into a "see, this is a common place occurrence, when in fact they are not.

I don't know what the point of that tweet is. The guy sad he had been attacked and people had no reason to think he would lie about something like that. It wasn't until the details of what he claimed happened that people started doubting the story and he was eventually found to be a liar. I'm guessing that because these are Hollywood folks the OP has a problem with they said.

As the "OP", I can affirn that, yes, I have a problem with persons in positions of power and influence using their positions to smear a large swath of the American people to advance a political agenda. Honest people can be initially outraged, but honest people wait for investigative facts. You may recall that Smollet's story began crumbling within 24 hrs. Dave Chapelle was pointing out the story's holes in his routine within hours also. Yet, these folks chose to ignore that.
