SFC Michael Hasbun OK. I will re-state this because you are evidently too simple to understand the first time I said it. And yes, that is as hominem, because at this point you are just trolling, despite a PLETHORA of evidence you are wrong.

Definitions and links are already posted, and I am now on my phone, so not gonna re-post it all.

1. A system which
elects their representatives is, by definition, a democracy.
2. A Republic, by definition, elects their representatives.
3.A Republic is, therefore, by definition, a democracy, despite the word not appearing in the definition.

SFC Casey O'Mally - a republic does NOT, by definition, have to elect their representatives That is a hallmark of a democracy, not a republic. You're not reading all the way thorugh your own link.
Republic, definitions 2-5.
2) any body of persons viewed as a commonwealth.
3) a state in which the head of government is not a monarch or other hereditary head of state.
4) any of the five periods of republican government in France.Compare First Republic, Second Republic, Third Republic, Fourth Republic, Fifth Republic.
5) a philosophical dialogue (4th century b.c.) by Plato dealing with the composition and structure of the ideal state.
Definitions 1-5 are all republics, not just #1, which you seem to be focused on to the exclusion of the others.

SFC Michael Hasbun And in your link claiming that America is a Republic and not a democracy (which, BTW, is NOT what your link actually states), which definition is the author using?

Oh? He's using the first one? Hmmm. Maybe that is why I stated from the first time I defined it that I was excluding the other definitions as they were not relevant to the conversation.

You said America is a Republic, not a democracy. I said a Republic is a democracy, because in the context the definition of Republic being used a Republic requires election of representatives, and this, is a democracy. Now you are talking about other republics which have NOTHING to do with the original conversation.

It's like you said a single face of a cube is a square, not a rectangle. I pointed out that squares ARE rectangles. And now you are protesting that squares can ALSO be people who are "uncool" and therefore not all squares are rectangles.

You are simply trolling. You made a shit ton of false claims, when asked for proof, you changed the discussion - by throwing out untruths and misrepresentations.

Unless you have something NON-TROLL to say, I am done. Feel free to ignore the evidence and think you won.

REPUBLIC
3) a state in which the head of government is not a monarch or other hereditary head of state.
Does the US have a monarch or other hereditary head of state? No? Congrats, it's a Republic. From your own definition.

Please!!! After 4 years of Democrats being called Communist and Socialist and cheaters and every name you can think of by Tweeter Trump, Joe Biden is hardly the villain for pointing out who the real enemy of Democracy is.

MSgt Dave Hoffman - Yep, you're in the cult alright, you can't see that it's you instead who have need of being deprogramed from being under the Trump spell. I've quit watching CNN, you may want to quit watching FOX NEWS, that's a good start to coming back to reality.

MSgt Dave Hoffman - You have swallowed the Trump Kool Aid. It's unfortunate that many who used to be good conservative Republicans have turned into Trump Hero worshippers and have totally lost track of conservative principles. I don't much care for Biden but have even less respect for Trump. We have not had a good President since Ronald Reagan. You may want to go back and see what he was about and you may be cured of TrumpMania.

I will agree that is has been downhill since Reagan. But the first three after him were fair to good. All of them (Reagan included) had their faults, gaffes, and problems. But since Bush Jr. we have hit the downslope FAST.

Every time I start talking politics, I usually regret it. I hope everyone can start seeing that it wasn't one party or one President or any small group of Presidents that got us to where we are, it was a combination of all of us putting out heads together throughout the history of the USA and coming to agreements along the way and no matter how bitter or angry or how bad of a job people thought someone or some party was doing, we always survived and pulled through. As bad as things look right now, things have a way of working themselves out. We lived through the inflation of the late 70s and early 80s and it was much worse than it is now, we lived through the Great recession that was brought on by years of mistakes on both sides. Whosever fault it was, we worked together to pull ourselves out, and I have no doubt whatever harm or good Trump and Biden have done or will do, we will figure out a way forward. Everybody won't like everything about the way we move, but we will be here to move on another day. We are too strong to fail.
