An audit of the Unemployment Insurance Agency reported that approx $3.9 BILLION in pandemic-related aid and financial assistance was overpaid to ineligible claimants. The error prompted criticism from primarily Republicans on the Michigan House Oversight Committee, who accused the agency of mismanagement. The overpayments occurred because the UIA *mistakenly added 4 pieces of criteria that weren't authorized under the CARES Act..

SSG Michael Noll Im sorry to say this situation is akin to soooo many horrible actions as a result of Dem leadership. (Imo, the billions in illicit free $$$ has “Left” written all over it.). Our Guv “Big Gretch” had one of the severest Covid lockdowns in MI and ordered old age homes to take Covid+ folks in them. The heighth of irresponsibility!
