(11/2021) US solar projects advance on the backs of Chinese slave labor.
The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) was established under the Trump administration to provide a "robust alternative" to doing business with countries other than China and autocratic governments. However, under the Biden Admin, the DFC is currently invested in 18 solar energy projects with China (85% of the DFC's active solar projects).
China produces more than 80% of the world's polysilicon using a vast amount of slave labor from the Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities in the Xinjiang region.
Climate envoy John Kerry last week dismissed human rights abuses in China's solar industry as "not my lane,” and has been privately lobbying Congress against a bill that would ban goods made with Uyghur forced labor.

The hypocrisy is amazing. People have their boxers in bunches and panties all wadded up over slavery in the US that ended 136 years ago but don’t care about the plight of people enslaved today.

I have two close friends who are electrical engineers for a power company. One integrated solar farms into the state power grid. Solar energy is unreliable, variable in production and is mismatched for peak demand and peak production. Biden doesn’t have a clue, he is senile.
