The school leaders are wrong.
Johnny makes video.
Billy doesn't like video.
Billy punches Johnny.
Johnny punches back.
Fight ensues.
The video didn't cause the fight, Billy did, by punching Johnny. It is entirely possible to express displeasure and even anger WITHOUT physical violence. Those who succumb to violence's siren song do so entirely as a result of their PERSONAL decisions.
Placing the blame on the video is simply making an excuse for one (or both) student(s).

Kids have gotten into fights over less and the bottomline from school officials and parents should be “school culture will not tolerate racism nor bigotry and will not tolerate any violence”.

MAJ James Woods - Kids have gotten in fights for less - hell, *I* got in fights for less when I was a kid. Absolutely true.
But they have also *not* gotten in fights over much, much more.
And when I got in a fight, I accepted my own responsibility. I didn't blame the other guy for being a meanie.
I think are pretty much in agreement. I am not saying take no action, just that violence was not REQUIRED.

SFC Casey O'Mally First lets not assume the Black kid that threw a punch didn’t take responsibility no more than assume the kid that made the racist video did take responsibility. I’ve gotten in fights in HS over both racist and bigoted slurs made towards me or friends of mine. It’s part of growing up. Doesn’t change the bottomline; the adults need to turn it into a learning point that intolerance that leads to violence will not be tolerated. Thankfully both kids were punished for fighting as it should be.
