Good Saturday morning my Brothers and Sisters!!!
I believe most of us have a pretty good understanding about Planet Mars and all we have learned over the last 20 plus years... But what about our Sister Planet "Venus"? Really, Not so much! That is about to change!
The temperature on Venus is close to 900° F, hot enough to melt Lead... And what about the Atmosphere? The atmospheric pressure at the surface is 90 times higher than on Earth...
Here are some other facts that we do know about Venus:
1) Length of a year is 225 Earth Days
2) Distance from the Sun is 67,498,607 Miles or 108,628,503 Kilometers
3) Venus is only 0.7AU's distant from the Sun (Earth/Sun distance is baseline 1AU)
4) Venus spins slowly in the opposite direction from most planets. A thick atmosphere traps heat in a runaway greenhouse effect, making it the hottest planet in our solar system.
5) Venus has a thick, toxic atmosphere filled with carbon dioxide and it’s perpetually shrouded in thick, yellowish clouds of sulfuric acid that trap heat, causing a runaway greenhouse effect.
6) Venus rotates very slowly on its axis – one day on Venus lasts 243 Earth days. The planet orbits the Sun faster than Earth, however, so one year on Venus takes only about 225 Earth days, making a Venusian day longer than its year!
7) Venus is permanently shrouded in thick, toxic clouds of sulfuric acid that start at an altitude of 28 to 43 miles (45 to 70 kilometers). The clouds smell like rotten eggs!
But how was Venus formed? Was there ever water on Venus? Could some form of life exist above the sulfuric acid clouds? And the questions go on and on...
This video addresses some of the questions being asked by scientists and there are two missions scheduled to commence in depth scientific analysis...
I hope you find this video informing and interesting...
