Thank you my friend MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. that Iraq war veteran former Kentucky National Guardsman Joshua Rohrer who is a homeless veteran in North Carolina says he was wrongfully arrested and mistreated by Gastonia police officers, who also tased his service dog Sunshine, sparking support from those who witnessed the incident.
"Rohrer was standing on a median near a Gastonia shopping center with Sunshine on Oct. 13 when a 911 caller contacted police. While Rohrer wasn’t bothering anybody, having Sunshine with him was his way of using sympathy to get money from people, the caller said, according to a copy of the audio call.
Even though Rohrer wasn’t armed or harassing passersby, according to witnesses at the scene, the encounter would ultimately end with his arrest and Sunshine’s death.
Rohrer deployed to Kuwait and Iraq from October 2004 to November 2005 with the Kentucky Army National Guard. He suffers from service-connected post-traumatic stress disorder, and his 2-year-old Belgian Malinois Sunshine was his Veterans Affairs-prescribed treatment, according to an official letter from the VA provided to Military Times by Rohrer."

A shame many of these incidents are improperly handled. My dogs are truly helpful with my PTSD.

It's so sad to read stories like this, and the treatment from the police is maddening, yet they wonder why people don't respect them, or trust them. It seems like everyday we are hearing about another LEO who should have never been hired into a position of authority, and has been insulated from any real repercussions either by fellow officers or unions.

Pfc Mills, not all Leo are bad, just like anything else you have a few. The media has just focused on bad Leo stories and they made a point to report them. All of my family are military vets and LEO. I'am fell sorry for vets when they get mistreated and wish the out come was different. Just a note;I bet there is a high number of vets that are on RP who like me and my family dedicated there life to serve both in the military and LEO and did a damn good job at it.It's tuff to get people to do something when they don't want to.Please look at all the stories about LEO and not just the bad ones. GySgt Jack Wallace - You are correct that there are some good LEO's out there, and most of the time they don't get the recognition they deserve. My point is, is that the bad ones more than likely did not become bad overnight, they have been this way for a good while, and I would have to say that other officers have seen their bad behavior and have done nothing about it because of the "blue line" , or that their union has fought to keep them in a job they should have never been in.
