There are numerous ‘mom & pop’ burger stands in NC Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen. The best burger I’ve ever had was in Greenville NC when I was in Graduate School. ‘Cubbies’ chili cheeseburger is fantastic!

Looks like a need to take a trip to pair of goulds to see what Hamburger Station is all about. It's a bit of a drive from Little Rock, though.

As this is all subjective, I must disagree with the selection, though I must admit I never ate at the one selected for South Dakota. However, Black Hills Burger & Bun Co. in Custer is hard to beat. They even bake their own buns.
