The problem is that people think the gov't and military will be "responsible" in their use of these red flag protection orders. Both have proven over and over again, they are anything but responsible. Mentally unwell people need to have access limited, but there needs to be a full on press to make sure due process is done, and the actions taken aren't just to get even at someone. Glad to see this young man fighting the good fight.

I think a "red flag law" may be appropriate sometimes, but it must include safeguards. If a person is truly mentally or emotionally a danger to themselves or others, they have no business with a firearm for that time. But that person's rights should not be ignored.
A tricky path to walk.

If we are going to pull firearms from people based off a red flag law then the weapons go with law enforcement and the person with EMS under an emergency detainment to the hospital. If we do not have the balls to lock them up in a mental facility then clearly we are doing it for something other than their mental capacity.
