APOD: 2021 September 25 - The Bubble and the Star Cluster

Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "The Bubble and the Star Cluster." The Bubble Nebula (aka NGC 7635, right) and open star cluster M52 (aka NGC 7654, left) are located in the northern constellation Cassiopeia. M52 lies about 5,000 light years from Earth, while NGC 7635 is a bit further away (7,100 light years).

The photographer is from Hungary, so my reading of his notes from his web site may be a bit off. This image is the result of a 27-hour exposure over multiple nights, and was produced using the following equipment: Lacerta 300/1200 telescope, Fornax 52 guide mount, Televue Paracorr Type-II lens, QHY 268C CCD cooled camera, Optolon I-eXtreme dual band filter, and a QHY5L-II guide camera. Quite a setup. And quite spectacular.
