“It was much better to imagine men in some smokey room somewhere, made mad and cynical by privilege and power, plotting over brandy. You had to cling to this sort of image, because if you didn't then you might have to face the fact that bad things happened because ordinary people, the kind who brushed the dog and told the children bed time stories, were capable of then going out and doing horrible things to other ordinary people. It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was Us, then what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.”

No. That would be an utter disaster gor everyone involved. The Dems and Libs would literally starve to death without the conservative mid west.
Not to mention, we have been on top for so ling we have made a lot of enemies who would like nothing more than to see us crumble in the way you mention. Your split would see our shores invaded.
Then, there is the problem of its no so cut and dry as Conservative state vs Liberal state. There would be a hodge podge of fifedoms.
Not to mention any time a country splits up loke that, peacefully or not, it quickly turns into a very bloody civl war.

SSG (Join to see) I will say alas being a moderate we were able to discuss what we discussed without name calling or provocative language. It's hard to do that with many people here.

SSgt (Join to see) I did mention the issue above with a debunked statement about the use for the horses. I do apologize if I didn't mention it throughly.

PFC (Join to see) So I have noticed. Perhaps those that cant have a discussion like this have been conditioned to be this way...or maybe its just the internet?
As a leader, I am obligated to hear conflicting opinions on how to accomplish a mission, its part of the planning process. Dissent is not a bad thing, if it causes you to make a better plan.

SSG (Join to see) it's not the condition vs being a leader. Many take their frustration out on others who the last draw breaks the camels back. When people talk about things they truly care about emotions fly. Take the ever controversial abortion thing which I'm not talking about just the example. One wide is about life while the other side is about rights. Now the tables are somewhat turnt an the shoe is on the other foot. One side is about saving lives while the other is about rights. People can be emotional vs rational time and time.

Also a key difference - in Texas when they were asked to take their masks off they didn't throw a fit. They didn't make a scene. They didn't assault or harass anyone. They just paid their bill and left. The woman said she only posted about it on social media so people would be aware that establishment has that policy.
That's fine if that business owner doesn't want people to wear masks - but it should be advertised at the door so people have the chance to decide on going in or not and not wasting their time.
Also realize not everyone is in the Democrat/liberal or Republican/conservative camp though. Some people align with neither or both ideologies. Where do those people go if you "split the country in half?"
How about instead of some Americans being spoiled, entitled, selfish little pricks they just grow the fuck up? I just don't understand the entitlement attitude of some people in this country.

You are right about a notice being posted at the door, it's greatly warranted. I suppose this particular establishment owner didn't do it because they didn't want to be doxed perhaps? Well now they're getting backlash for it. To go to the question I asked at hand towards the end of my statement, I believe it's the polarization. The collective of the right vs left out voices that of the middle. Both are in their respective echo chambers an will only listen to their respective media outlets. Left CNN, MSNBC, and right Fox an OANN. The middle is no outnumbered. Thought out the last 4 years those who don't fallen with party line or have no party they're affiliated with tend to get grouped with the other side based on opinion with a matter at the time. Example if you want immigration reform however supported better border obstruction aka the wall you'd be labeled as a racist trumptard. Another example if support higher taxes for more social programs your considered a leftist socialist. It's not longer about policy or individual agenda sadly. I whole hardly wish we'd stop being stupid an treating politics like football. Look where it's gotten us now. Nobody wants to get anything done unless it favors them or their party vs the public.

PFC (Join to see) - The way I see it as that the US as we know it was never going to last forever. This country will probably fall someday and it's just going to be from within. I think its inevitable - don't know when it might but it will. Pessimistic? Perhaps but that's just the way it seems. Especially when the founders never expected this to last more than about 50 years and called it the Great Experiment. That's all it's been -an experiment.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff Eventually we'll fall as Rome did. Only way to prevent ourselves from falling is stop focusing on international matters, give power to someone else. Still help in foreign affairs from time to time but focus on ourselves. When I mean foreign affairs I mean issues such as climate change. Don't however get involved in a conflict that we have no place in. If we strictly focus on ourselves and our neighbors to the north an south we may be able to save ourselves. It's a Longshot but we've always been able to persuasive since the nation's founding.

This restaurant definitely needs to post something in a prominent location that they do not allow masks. Better to be forewarned, especially if you are wearing a mask to protect a loved one.
