SP5 Dennis Loberger - I hope you are right, it is not due to be finished for 14 years, 2036... I find it hard to believe they are going to spend 50 billion dollars on some nuclear powered subs and then put only conventional bombs in it... but I hope you are right.

"The new subs will be built in Adelaide, Australia, with UK and U.S. technical assistance. Morrison clarified that while these subs will be nuclear-powered, they will not be nuclear-armed. "Australia is not seeking to acquire nuclear weapons or establish a civil nuclear capability", according to Maritime-Executive.com

SP5 Dennis Loberger - To me, that sounds kind of like Israel doesn't have nukes lol.... It would probably only take a matter of a few hours to change out the type of loads and missals carried on the sub... still, I really appreciate the info. I hope I live long enough to see them, I bet they are going to be a site to behold.

Diesels are good for coastal defense, but do need to surface. At that point it’s a target. Nuclear submarines project power globally. Good decision on their part, if they can afford the high price.
